The Typical State Bar Examination Process:

1. Obtain the test date(s), location(s), application, and deadlines from your state (select your state from our home page).

2. Prepare Now:

• Begin your bar application as a 1L. Run a BarApp.com background check to save time and frustration on the character and fitness portion of your bar application...you want this process completed as soon as possible!
• bar review prep courses / order books (save $$)Find a bar review course as early as possible. Check out some of the non-mainstream alternatives. They can be significantly cheaper and just as, if not more, effective.
• reserve a hotel room for the bar. If needed, book a hotel as early as possible - reserving a room over a year in advance is not uncommon. Get to your hotel two days before you exam. You want to be comfortable, well-rested, and focused when the test begins.
• learn about bar loans
• Read comments and advice from those who have actually taken (and passed) the bar exam.

3. Figure out who you will list as your personal references (no family). Remember to choose those who are reliable and trustworthy (ask their permission for you to list them before doing so). A reference who does not timely respond to a character and fitness inquiry from your bar application reflects poorly on you.

4. Balance really is important. You need to exercise, eat healthy, and relax every once in a while. Have some fun and involve your friends -- Become our Facebook friend and interract with law students from around the country who have taken or are preparing for the bar exam.
